Tips to Make Your Project Go Smoothly!

Always ask your contractor for proof of insurance and workman’s comp.  Your contractor should be able to show you a certificate of liability.

Always check to make sure your contractor has a permanent business location!

Check with the Better Business Bureau to see if the contractor has any complaints filed against them. http://www.minnesota.app.bbb.org/search

Get a signed contract before you start a project.  This will make sure that your estimated price is your final price.  It makes sure that you will not be charged thousands more than you thought you would.

Ask about the different warranties that your contractor offers, some are better than others.

Beware of what we call Storm Chasers.  Minnesota is toward the top of the nation for the number of hail storms we have.  Which brings a lot of people out of the woodwork who are trying to make a quick buck.  Storm Chasers tend to have high pressure salesman, that will guarantee to come knocking after a big storm.  After a storm chaser completes a job, you will most likely never hear from them again, even if you have problems with the job that they did.  So you can protect yourself and help your local economy by only hiring local contractors.

 Look for a company that has logos on their trucks and apparel.  You want a contractor who is proud of their work and are not afraid to put their name on the job they do.
