What brand do you recommend for a new roof?
We are not a brand orientated company. The top brands used in the area are
GAF/ELK, CertainTeed, and Owens Corning. All of these shingles are made very
similar and all follow the Federal Guidelines for shingles. Also, all of the
brands of the shingles have the same basic warranty. The main differences
between the brands are the selection of colors. We at Kanga Roof are experts in
installing all of these brands so you can get the roof you want.
How long have your been in business?
Upton Builders Inc. presents Kanga Roof was established in January
2003. Since then, we have professionally installed over 1000 roofs with
many great references available.
Do I need a new roof or can my roof be repaired?
Most companies will come out and inspect your roof and give you a free estimate
to replace the whole roof, not really explaining to you all of the different
options you have and the reasons they want to do a total replacement. We will
come out and do a thorough 17 point inspection of your entire roofing system,
sit down with you to explain all of the available options that are right for

Who will be working on our house?
We hire and train our own employees so that anyone working on your house has
went through our rigorous application process. This process includes background
checks, ongoing drug testing, and professional training. Your family is your
most valuable asset and you should feel safe and secure with your contractors
and their employees. Our employees are polite and courteous and will answer any
questions you have for them throughout the day.
What color shingles do you recommend that we put on our
house?
This is a very difficult question for a lot of contractors. Everyone has a
different taste in style, and while contractors form their own opinions of what
looks good from the different houses they have seen, it is ultimately your
decision what goes on your house. However, we have many tools to show you what
different products will look like on your house to help you choose the best fit
for you.
What is Ice and Water Shield and do I need it?
This is a self- adhering polymer modified bitumen sheet that is required by
Minnesota Code to be applied to the bottom eves of the roof past the interior
wall 24” and up any valleys on any heated or cooled structures. It adheres to
the decking, so that if you get an ice dam pushes water under the shingles, it
will not allow the water to seep into your attic.
What measures do you take to protect the house and
yard?
We take extra precautions to protect your home from setting plywood on the
bottom 8 ft of your house to protect your siding and shrubs, and we will lay
down canvases to catch the majority of the nails and debris. After we clean up
all the construction waste, we will run a magnet around your yard and driveway
to collect as many stray nails as possible.
How long will my roofing project take to complete?
This answer depends on the style of your house, the type of material being used,
and the size of your home. If the roof is done by a professional crew, an
average home with an average asphalt shingle applied should only take one to two
days.
Instead of replacing my roof, can I just get new
shingles laid over the top of my existing roof?
This used to be a viable option, however new laws and construction codes require
you to rip off the existing shingles prior to installing the new shingles. |
